Position Summary

McDaniel College Graduate and Professional Studies invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Clinical Education Faculty Coordinator to join a dynamic team for a developing Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program scheduled to launch in summer 2027.  This position will begin as early as July 2025 and will remain open until it is filled.

This position is a full-time, twelve-month tenure-track faculty role which requires teaching, academic advising, scholarship, service and clinical coordination responsibilities that contribute to the development and enhancement of the SLP program. The faculty member will collaborate with other program faculty and administration to contribute to the continued growth and success of the MSOT program and to prepare students to serve in a variety of practice settings.

The Clinical Education Faculty Coordinator (CEFC) provides strategic leadership and oversight for the clinical education component of the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program. This role ensures the clinical education program meets the standards set by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) and the Council for Clinical Certification in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CFCC). Reporting directly to the Speech-Language Pathology Program Director (SLP-PDR), the CEFC collaborates to integrate clinical and academic curricula seamlessly while ensuring compliance with accreditation and certification standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Education Leadership:
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate the clinical education strategy to align with program goals, CAA standards, and CFCC certification requirements.
    • Recruit, onboard, and mentor clinical educators, ensuring adherence to program expectations and best practices.
    • Oversee immersive learning experiences, including clinical practicum placements, and simulation-based learning ensuring alignment with best practices and student competency goals
    • Collaborate with the support staff to develop and maintain partnerships with clinical sites and manage placement logistics.
  • Program Development and Accreditation Compliance:
    • Ensure full compliance with CAA accreditation standards and CFCC certification requirements.
    • Collect, analyze, and report clinical education data to support accreditation and program evaluation.
    • Collaborate on curriculum development to ensure clinical education aligns with academic objectives and meets professional standards.
    • Coordinate site visits and evaluations for clinical education partners to maintain high-quality practicum experiences.
  • Student Support and Success:
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to students during clinical placements, addressing concerns and fostering professional development.
    • Monitor student performance to ensure clinical competency and provide constructive feedback in collaboration with clinical educators.
    • Develop and deliver preparatory workshops or seminars to support students in clinical settings.
  • Teaching, Scholarly Activities and Service:
    • Teach courses focusing on clinical methods, practicum, or related areas of expertise.
    • Engage in scholarly activities, including publications and presentations in clinical education or speech-language pathology.
    • Provide service to the department, university, and profession through committee participation, professional organization involvement, accreditation activities, and community engagement.
  • Collaboration and External Partnerships:
    • Serve as the primary liaison with clinical education partners, ensuring strong relationships with practicum sites and fostering new partnerships.
    • Collaborate with the support staff to streamline clinical placement processes and address logistical challenges.
    • Engage with faculty and community organizations to expand clinical opportunities and support student learning.
